“Love Will find a way” is a track from Lionel Ritchie’s 1983 album ” Can’t Slow Down ” written by Greg Phillinganes , a prominent figure in the Yacht Rock genre. Five singles were released from Can’t Slow Down, all of which hit the top ten , including two that reached #1. The album also won the Grammy in 1985. A few days ago , I ran across a video on You Tube with a cover version by local talent and friend Jim Williamson. I hadn’t heard the track in a while and was instantly intrigued on how Jim would approach it since I’ve had the pleasure of working him and watching him perform songs I loved and loved even more when I heard his unique approach. Needless to say I was not disappointed. Musically the jazzy arrangement was a welcomed departure from the original R &B feel of Lionel’s version, but it was Jim’s vocals that sealed the deal for me. Natural and refreshing come to mind as I hear this track over and over , we’ve heard the song before , but Jim and his musicians make it new once again. A definite ” Must have” for any fan of smooth music. Hopefully we’ll be hearing much more great sounds coming from Jim in the near future. For now we have this great track from one of South Florida’s finest performer and vocalist .
