The Most Important Tool on your Yacht

What you really should be listening to, if you’re a fan of Yacht Rock.

The problem with most radio stations of any genre is that ” I just heard that song an hour ago” Limited playlists and uninformed Program Directors usually are the culprits of this complaint. Under the watchful eye and ear of seasoned music veteran Captain Juan Luv Yacht Rock Miami ( YRM) navigates through the smooth musical waters , re-discovering songs from the late 70 and early 80s , discovering songs you may have missed , as well as contemporary artists producing this style today. ” It never ceases to amaze me the amount of great music that was produced in those years. We strive to provide our listeners with a wide variety of artists that contributed to the scene as well as those that remain faithful ” Captain Juan Luv

On the Boat with PAGE 99 ” SEPTEMBER”

Yachtcutation is a program I host on Yacht Rock Miami we pride ourselves in diving deep and discovering Past, Present and Future musical treasures that represent the smooth qualities of Yacht Rock that will make it ” On the Boat”

Page 99 is a new generation of Yacht Rock and AOR…Inspired by the US West Coast music of the 1970’s and 80’s, Page 99 definitely has the ” Bounce” down to a T on their track ” September” There are lots of influences present on this upbeat track, you can hear the musicianship of some of the greats Jeff Porcaro, Jay Graydon while still enjoying a fresh new take on the era.

The Page 99 concept is similar to that of the Yacht Rock era where it is built with the vision of individual “for-hire” musicians filling in around the two stable members: John H. Nixon (Drums, keys, synths, rhythm guitars, vocals, track arrangement, production, mixing, mastering, etc. and Russel David Fitzpatrick (vocals, and all vocal arrangements). All the other parts are session players from all over including Detroit, California, Philadelphia, Pisa Italy and more.

In just of few short weeks of regular rotation on fans from all over the world have made this track one of the most requested songs on the station at 803 -999-SAIL (7245)

Donny Benet " Konichiwa"

We “ exposed” our audiences to Donny Benet
at one of our shows here in Miami about a
year ago. We’ve discovered that when we present
new music to our audiences , it should be
audio only, as videos seem to taint and influence
negatively songs that otherwise would be well
received. “ Konichiwa” ( 2017) from Donny Benet’s LP
“ The Don ” was totally the opposite. The video
sparked an immediate interest in this Sydney
based solo recording artist, whose musical
inspirations are obvious in his unique
style , which borrows heavily from Italo Disco,
and R&B from the 80s.
“Konichiwa ” is an ultra-smooth track , sung in a
whisper style, over a 4 on the Floor Disco/Soul
beat, complete with a very sexy sax solo.
A perfect video to introduce you to Donny’s cool ,
underdog persona. The burning sax player is
my favorite aside from the suit.
And No, he’s not that
“porno guy”

Bad Business " Cadillac Villa"

There is no mistaking where the inspiration for their music comes from as you listen to Bad Business and their new track “ Cadillac Villa. On a secluded island or on the upper deck of your shiny new yacht sipping an ice cold Champale the vibe is smooth and classy. Reminiscent of such Yacht Rock Masters as Bill LaBounty and Marc Jordan .Bad Business delivers an expertly crafted track with all the elements Yacht Rock fans are familiar with.
“The bounce” the guitar solo and of course those smooth vocals complimented by Fantine adding the lady’s touch.
“ Cadillac Villa” steps back into sexy groove ,unlike my favorite“Sailor’s Delight” which funks you up from start to finish . But the “ Business” still delivers another winner. This is definitely a band to watch ( and hear)
Thankfully Yacht Rock Miami alwaysahead of the curve has placed several
of their tracks on rotation and the video for Cadillac Villa seems to be a crowd favorite at Yacht Rock Miami’s Live DJ Performances.
